we got married ii

The reception was crammed full of people and happiness, and was DIY to the last drop.  The centerpieces were vintage books from my grandmother’s house, mason jars from our family farm, letterpress blocks that Mr. Lovely and I bought each other as an engagement present, and wrought iron table numbers handmade by my dad.

Our cake toppers were Jonathan Adler salt and pepper shakers (given to us as a housewarming gift from a dear friend).  Around the cake, we had photos of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days.  The cake was backed up by a candy buffet, which included a vintage postage scale and my grandmother’s antique cut glass dishes.

Our friends and family entertained themselves in a photobooth, decorated with homemade chalkboards and vintage photos & cameras.  And on our guest table, people typed us messages on an antique Smith-Corona typewriter — the same typewriter we used to address the save-the-dates, invitations, and to type names on placecards.

There was cake cutting and merry-making, and finally the last dance, after which we kicked our shoes off and went back over every detail of the most perfect day. xoxo
