How to Make Waffle Pizza

Waffle pizza

My waffle iron strikes again! I don’t know what the heck it is about cooking random things in the waffle maker — for some reason it adds a little extra flavor boost that is just. so. good. We’ve started making waffle pizzas for a quick lunch or dinner when we’re running short on time or just want something simple and fun. Each person can choose their own toppings so everybody gets what they want, and they’re so fast to make. Check out the video and see! xoxo

Ingredients

  • 1 package Pillsbury Pizza Dough (or your favorite pizza dough)
  • pizza sauce or tapenade — we used this olive tapenade!
  • shredded cheese (about 1/3 cup per pizza)
  • your favorite toppings

Make Time: 8 Minutes Per Pizza

Step 1: Roll out your dough and flatten it evenly. Cut into sixths (or pieces that are about 5″ square). Roll the edges of the squares inward to help contain the pizza toppings.

Step 2: Heat your waffle iron. Place one rolled dough square on the iron with the dough rolled upward. Spread a thin layer of sauce or tapenade. Top with a light sprinkle of cheese, a few toppings, and a bit more cheese. Be careful not to overload with too many toppings or the pizza will be too thick to cook.

Step 3: Place another dough square on top with the dough rolled downward. Pinch edges together as best you can.

Step 4: Close waffle iron and let the pizza cook about halfway through a regular cook cycle (about 2-3 minutes, depending on your iron). Open the iron, rotate the pizza 180°, and close the iron to cook for another 2-3 minutes. Once cooked through, remove from the iron and enjoy!

  1. How genius is this? Combining my husband two favorite foods.. now I know what to make next time I get in trouble!
