It’s Friday! We made it! I gotta say, Mother Nature must be having a meltdown because the weather this week was crazy. In one day it went from raining to sunny to a tornado warning in California. Guys. I was seriously coming up with a plan just in case a tornado actually occurred in the Central Valley of California. Of course it didn’t, but if it had you would’ve found me and my family in my walk-in closet. Because what do Californians know about tornado shelters?! Nothing, that’s what.
In other news, a few of my friends and I went in on a group personal trainer and started training this week. In other words, my legs are non-functioning, because both of our workouts this week were lower body. It feels like I’m carrying around two cement posts on the bottom half of my body. I’m holding out hope that pretty soon it’ll get easier and I’ll just be kind of “normal” sore, not “I’m gonna die” sore. If you know what I mean.
But! This weekend we get to go to a baby birthday party (which I love) and I have rehearsal for an upcoming show, so it’s gonna be a fun one. Tell me what you have planned too! xoxo
Hey Friday lovers! It’s been a sunny, happy week around here. We’ve been blessed lately with some wonderful friendships and we are just having the best time getting closer with our friends and their families. One night this week we were in the middle of making pizzas for dinner and one of our friends texted to see if we wanted to come over for an impromptu pool party. So we packed up the pizzas and baked them at our pals’ house while the kids splashed in the pool. It was such a lovely, easy evening — we ate outside in some perfect spring weather with wine and pizza and lots of laughs. Sometimes the spontaneous get-togethers are the best ones, ya know?
Hoping you have a gorgeous weekend with a little spontaneity! xoxo
P.S. A perfect springy cocktail for your weekend!
I feeeeeeeel it! Spring is coming! We are in the middle of a string of days in the 70’s and it just feels so good, like it’s waking up my cold bones. It always seems like my mood and wellbeing are intertwined with the weather, and after such a cold, rainy winter this sunshine is giving me LIFE! Let’s run and jump and play! Speaking of which, what are your weekend plans? We’ve got a little playdate scheduled with some old friends, and a teeny bit of work that we’ll get to share with you soon. Whatever you’re up to, hope it’s lovely. xoxo

Hey dolls, it’s Friday! Who’s got fun stuff in store for the weekend?
Our schedule is starting to ramp up a little bit for the spring and I’m pretty excited about everything on the horizon. I’m doing a show at the Gallo Center for the Arts, and rehearsals are under way. We’re also rolling around a few ideas to bring some of our creative community members together, so we’ve got meetings and events coming up surrounding that. If things come together the way I’m hoping, we’ll have some insanely cool stuff to share while we keep you updated on everything we’re doing. Aside from all that, a bunch of Hank’s little buddies are turning two soon, so we’ve got baby parties and playdates galore. Life is full hand joyous and I’m so grateful.
Whatever you’re up to, have a beautiful, restful weekend! xoxo
P.S. Have you seen our pal Jeff Mindell‘s effects pack for A Color Story? I edited that photo up there with it. Test it out, it’s so much fun!
Big weekend, gang! Not only are we baptizing Maggie, but it’s also my birthday Sunday! No big birthday plans — we’re hosting family from out of town for the baptism, so with all the hoopla we’ll probably celebrate it later on. And after this many birthdays, I’m good to just keep it low-key anyway. I’ll save the big celebrations for my 40th. 😉
What are YOU up to this weekend? xoxo
Oh hey, California! How ’bout that rain! I always find myself so torn because I know that my home state definitely needs water, and that all of this rain is actually starting to make a dent in the drought. But I’m definitely one of those people who gets all bummed with days and days of gloomy weather. I feel like it’s been raining for my whooolllle life. (So dramatic.) Like, maybe we could just stick one day of sunshine in there every once in a while? Anybody have a contact email for Mother Nature?
I kid, I kid, obviously. I’ll just get out my rain boots and ride it out. What’s the weather where you are? Do you find that weather affects your attitude? Whatever the weatherman is telling you today, hope you have a beautiful weekend! xoxo
Hey you dolls! Just popping by to wish you a happy Friday and say thank you for all of your words of encouragement lately! I know we’ve had some down days around here with the kids being sick and being so worried, but things are definitely looking up. All of your prayers and well wishes have been so very appreciated. And I doubly appreciate you just letting things get a little real sometimes — life isn’t always perfect and it feels important to me to share even the tough times with you.
So! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and I hope that things are looking up for you, too. Have a beautiful weekend — get out and do something lovely! xoxo
In the spirit of transparency, I’m gonna tell ya it’s been a rough week. Some weeks aren’t all gold leaf and photos of palms trees and throwing confetti. Some weeks are trips to the ER, sitting up all night with a sleeping kid on your chest, and completely losing your voice. That was this week.
I don’t need to bum out your Friday with all of the details but let’s just say we’ve had two sick babes over here for a while now! It’s been like boot camp for my mama heart, taking one step at a time to get stronger and deal with scary situations. I’m praying praying praying that they’re on the mend and I’d be grateful if you would too. And while we’re at it, can I pray on anything for you?
Shout out to my champ of a husband for tag teaming this crappy week! Parenting is scary enough, so I’m grateful daily that I have such a gem of a partner.
Here’s to a happy Friday and a healthy weekend! Have a good one! xoxo
We got sweet Marguerite these floral overalls and I think they’re kind of adorable! They’ll probably only fit her for another week so I had to get photo documentation.
Y’all, we got milestones up to our ears over here! This week, Henry moved from his crib to a big kid bed. Maggie moved from her mini-crib to Henry’s big crib. She also rolled over during a nap so now she’s sleeping unswaddled. And all of this equals me in a puddle over how my babies are growing up way too fast.
Henry is doing great in his new bed but we’re taking bets as to when he’ll figure out that he can get out by himself. So far so good. He mostly just likes to climb up onto the bed and roll around and make his weird little-boy tribal yells. I should video it for posterity, it’s kind of hilarious. We got him this bed from IKEA that flips over into a lofted bed when he’s a little older. There are so many great hacks online (search IKEA Kura bed on Pinterest and you will lose your mind), and we’re deciding how we’d like to customize it a little. Right now we just stained it to match the rest of his room, but I’m dreaming up something fun for it.
Anyway! After 3 ear infections, 2 rounds of infant bronchiolitis, and many trips to the doctor in the past 6 weeks I’m happy to say that I think we’re all getting healthy. Looking forward to a weekend without any Kleenex or antibiotics.
And how are you, gang? Tell me something good. Have a good weekend, and enjoy this snap of Henry “helping” put together his bed. xoxo
Happy Friday gang! I shared on Snapchat this week (find me there @lovely-indeed) that I went to meet some new friends at a local gathering called the Breakfast Club. It’s a group of young people who are active in our community and who have a likeminded interest in making it a better place. There’s no real agenda to the monthly gatherings; it’s more just about sharing space and connecting with other people. Of course there’s lots of talk about how we can help our community, but there’s also just chit chat over eggs and bacon.
A couple of my goals for the year are to give more of my time and talents, and to work on improving the things that I don’t like. I figure those things go hand in hand for me when it comes to giving back to my community. I love my hometown (I moved back here after living in NYC and LA, for heaven’s sake!), but I have big dreams to make it a place that more people love. And it was so invigorating and refreshing to sit with people at the Breakfast Club who have the same vision and passion.
So I have a couple of questions for you if you have a moment. What do you love about the place where you live? What would you change about it? Do you give to your community in any way? How?
Thanks, friends. I always appreciate your input and conversation! Happy Friday! xoxo
This Christmas I’ve been getting lots of joy from doing projects just for fun, and not actually to share on the blog. I know, it seems a little backwards because that’s what I’m here to do right!? But sometimes it’s just really fulfilling to make or bake or decorate something for the pure joy of it and not have to stop in the middle to document every moment.
There were these lovely sugared cranberries (inspired by this recipe), which Henry and I have been happily chomping on all week. And there was one evening after the kids were in bed where I popped a bottle of sparkling rosé and got tipsy while decorating my very own gingerbread house. For the record, you can actually see where I started my second glass of bubbles, because the rows of candy shingles on the roof get all crooked. Ha! I’ll share it on Instagram soon. Anyway, here’s wishing you a beautiful weekend filled of things you want to to just for the joy of it. Merry merry! xoxo
