Hey girl! You got some Galentines? I have gal pals near and far and I love celebrating them in little ways whenever I can, but Leslie Knope was totally speaking my language when she came up with Galentine’s Day. A whole day to celebrate your ladies? Yes, please. If you want to celebrate Galentine’s Day and get your gal pals a little something, here are a few ideas to get you going. And no, this post isn’t sponsored but every single one of these items is under $20 and just so happens to come from my favorite place: Target. I know you feel me.

Galentine Gifts Under $20

Makeup Bag. Flamingo CarpetTo-Go Mug. Heart Tumbler. Shower Curtain. Brushes. Wall Art.

Don’tcha just wanna traipse up and down the aisles at Target, tossing things in your basket to give to all your girls (aside from the fact that right about now a solo trip to Target sounds like a vacation)? Happy shopping, and Happy Galentine’s Day! xoxo

P.S. I just had to add that every single time I typed Galentine’s, my computer autocorrected to Valentine’s. I’m thinking autocorrect needs to join us in the 21st century. Get it together, technology!

It’s sweater season! Ohhhhh MAN I love the day where I get to take out all of my sweaters from storage and put them into rotation. Anyone out there feel me? If you’re a sweater fan too, we put together a quick little roundup of our favorite finds for the season — they’re all just festive enough to say “holiday” without saying “yikes.” Catch my drift? I can’t pick a favorite! I’m thinking it might just be the navy sweater with those cute little gold stars sprinkled everywhere. So perfect. Which is your fave? xoxo

What to Wear After You Have a Baby

I thought for a second about titling this post “I Can Wear Normal Clothes Again,” but then I realized I’d have to qualify it with a “(Sort Of)”. Because as I learned last time around, even though I was able to wear my old clothes soon after having Henry, they suuuuure fit differently. Not to mention that if you’re breastfeeding, it adds a whole other dimension of necessity that you never thought of before. So I’ve been collecting postpartum pieces that worked well for me last time and are working well now, and I’m here to help you if you’re totally lost!

Postpartum Wardrobe

For starters, don’t worry if you’re not right back in your old pants a few days after you have the kiddo. That’s kind of unheard of, because your body doesn’t just bounce right back. You might look pregnant still for a bit, or you might just be bloated or a different shape entirely. With Henry, my butt just totally… disappeared. Like, I usually have a pretty round situation going on back there and it went completely flat a few days after I had him. But I still had a little bit of a tummy. So I was a completely different shape and even though my old pants were the right size they looked all stretched out and crazy. Cue new pants.

Also, if you’re breastfeeding you’re going to want to wear easy on, easy off tops. I ended up living in my chambray button up shirt last time because I kind of wanted to look put together but didn’t want something that I’d have to do major battle with every time Hank needed to eat. So for me, it’s button ups or soft shirts that are easy to yank over or under the girls when baby is hungry. Tight tops were just not gonna cut it, so I tended to wear blousy shirts with some room in them until my tummy bounced back after a couple months.

So! During a late night feeding session I was dreaming of a few new pieces to add to my postpartum wardrobe and thought I’d share. And why are there shoes in my picks, you ask? Mostly because I’m so pumped that my feet aren’t swollen any more and I can wear normal shoes again. 😉 xoxo

I’ve never been a diaper bag kind of mom. I carried one for about a week when Hank was born until I realized that I didn’t necessarily need one. I just needed a bag big enough to carry the essentials, and it could still be one of my purses that I loved. So that’s what I’ve been doing since he was a little guy. It’ll probably change when #2 comes along and I need a little more space, but I still don’t see diaper bags in my future — just a bag with a bit more space to accommodate two sizes of diapers. 😉 So! I went down the bag rabbit hole and found these beauties, who all happen to be in one lovely neutral color palette. I’d snatch any of them up in a hot second! Which is your fave? You know I’m a gold girl, but that silver one is pretty intriguing… xoxo

Favorite shoes for a toddler

Favorite shoes for a toddler

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — having a toddler is a game changer. And I obviously can’t speak to what toddler girls are like, but my little dude is into anything and everything that’s dirty. Sidewalk chalk, mud, bugs, snails, dirt, leaves, bushes, paint — you name it, Henry wants in on the action. For a while after he learned to walk I couldn’t figure out why I was so tired all of a sudden and then I realized DUH it’s because Ryan and I now spend about 50% of our time chasing after him, making sure that he’s not doing something that that will a) get him killed or b) ruin his clothes beyond repair.

Aside from that, we apparently made a kid who is half-giant. We keep running into other little boys who are almost a year older than Henry and either the same height or shorter. I seriously can’t keep this kid in clothes, let alone shoes. A couple of months ago we went through 3 shoe sizes in 4 weeks. What?! Maybe I need to feed him less…

Anyway, we have been looking and looking for shoes for the little dude that would meet all of my mom criteria and I think, thanks to Zappos, we finally found my faves. You guys, baby Crocs are everything. First of all this turquoise pair looks stinking adorable on little chubby baby feet. And they’ve been pretty indestructible for us so far; we can take them to the beach or the park or the backyard for some sidewalk chalk action and they totally withstand the toddler test. (The fact that you can just rinse them off if they’re dirty is pretty major.) They’re just so easy to get on and off for a summertime shoe, too. We may or may not have also gotten this pair for the little guy – I love the detail on the toe!

Oh by the way, some gratuitous mom photos because this was such a happy day:

Son and mother

Come on. That little fist clutching a tiny car is something that I will always, always remember about this little nugget. Okay, nostalgic mom moment over.

We found these styles on Zappos (while we were looking, Mr. Lovely got all jealous and ordered himself a pair of these so they could twin. Ugh I can’t stand the cuteness.)! It’s perfect because they ship free and you can return super easily if your size is off. Major piece of cake. I’ve been known to do a little shopping for myself before on Zappos but I never thought of shopping for kids there. Let’s just talk for one second about how much I appreciate not having to take a toddler to a shoe store… 😉

Favorite shoes for a toddler

So if you’re tearing through toddler shoes like we are, give these guys a go. I have to say, I saw a baby girl at the park with some pink ones on the other day and my pregnant heart skipped a beat. There’s nothing more adorable than teeny tiny shoes, am I right?! xoxo

Essentials for Summertime Fun in the Sun

Summer is knocking at my door and even though spring is beautiful and all that jazz, I’m pumped for some long beach days and time by the pool! Nothing beats one of those days where you spend all day swimming, reading a book under an umbrella, and generally being a summertime bum. This summer I’m feeling bright, punchy pieces that look just as good by the pool as they do strolling into a restaurant for dinner afterwards (along with some fun extras in case you just don’t ever want to leave the sand and surf). Here are a few of my faves to help you #findyourfun!

Essentials for Summertime Fun in the Sun

Since we started traveling with Henry I loooove having a beach tent. Keeps ya cool on the sand and gives the little dude somewhere to play. This one from Shore and Sunshine has been great. If you’re not toting kids a good summertime read is pretty clutch; I’m hoping to get through this one soon! And obviously you’ve got to buy into the pool float craze that’s sweeping the internet — the ban.do heart float is pretty cute!

In the summer, especially when we’re by the beach or the pool, I love style pieces that you can toss on and go, and not worry about looking like a schlub! These colorful little Isabella sandals from Crocs are one of my latest finds, and they’re perfect by the water or heading out on the town afterwards. And bonus — they kind of remind me of my jelly shoe days, but in a grownup way, which makes them even more sweet. (They also have a pair of flats that you should totally peek at if you were into jellies back in the day! It’s like a secret fashion flashback but in the best way.)

When you leave the pool,  pair your sandals with a simple, colorful swim coverup that can double as a dress like this one, swipe on a little lip gloss, and hide behind some fun sunnies. Ta-da! You’re good to go, looking put-together, feeling comfy, and ready to go find some more fun.

So what are your summertime essentials? I’d love to know the go-to pieces that you keep in your car or your bag while you’re out and about. For more inspo, hit up the Crocs Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and go #findyourfun! xoxo

Truth be told, I have stacks and stacks of cards and notebooks and gorgeous pieces of paper in the studio that I just loooove. I love stationery! So when my pal Kristina said that she was opening a brick + mortar shop filled with her favorite paper goods, I had to have her stop by and share with you guys. This girl is hysterical (I’ve been reading and laughing out loud at her comments for years!) and she’s got a killer knack for choosing fun goodies. She’s one of those readers that has become a friend, and I think you’re gonna love her too! Check out her paper faves (and some fun extras too). xoxo

Paper Notebooks

Hello Lovelies! Chelsea and I go WAY BACK (if you count all the comments I post to her delightful projects!) and she graciously allowed me to rant about stationery in her little corner of the internet today. My name is Kristina (KB) and I own a little online stationery shop called Crumple & Toss. I am about to open my first retail space and have been loading up on SO MUCH cute stuff I just HAD to share, so here I am!

When I pick out cards for the shop, letters and words always catch my attention first. And of course they HAVE to be clever! Bold, black type on white heavy paper? OO LALA! But I also adore gold foil, hand-lettering, and bright colors. These beauties above are some of my favorites. And clearly writing notes is more fun when you have fancy pens to write with!

Humorous Greeting Cards

You Know Me | Fancy Coffee | Be Mine | I Can’t Even | Pens

Cards are a mail-able smile. A brightly colored envelope in your mailbox will do the trick all by itself, but once you get inside, the card really needs to bring it. I love cards with a spicy wit or a pop-culture reference that really connects the giver and the recipient. A really bad (and by “bad” of course I mean AWESOME) pun always gets me, as well as cards with a bit of a dry wit or weirdness about it. Side note – if you’re not decorating your mail with washi tape, like seriously what are you doing with your life?

HANDS UP who’s a notebook fiend? I love the newness of a fresh notebook. So much promise! How many ideas will you hold? How many brilliant thoughts (or grocery lists) can I fit in here? These little guys are my new fave. By BerinMade, a designer in the UK, this set of 2 (!!) cuties is perfectly pocket-sized; one patterned and the other gold-foiled. The textured cover and pink interior pages are ALL KINDS OF WIN.

As I grow my gift selection for the store, I am totally getting sucked into the pin trend and seriously, how can you not with cuties like these? I JUST got these in from Hello Lucky and I’m so glad they started making pins. I got a rose gold cactus pin at the National Stationery Show from them last year as a freebie and people are always asking me about it. Each of these pins are rose gold and pastel with a tiny pun (YAY!) and come on an illustrated card so it’s like a greeting card and gift in one! Genius!

PHEW ok that’s all for now but if you’d like to see what other treasures I have come hang out online at Crumple & Toss! Or even better,  if you’re local to the Boston area come visit me in my new location when I open in June! Thanks for having me, Chelsea!

So the last time I had to buy a coat was when I was living in NYC. Obviously, the winters there require some serious coat game if you want to stay cozy while you’re running around. Since I’ve lived in California, I haven’t had to worry too much about a coat because the winters here are like oooh, brrrr, it’s 60 degrees. I mean, toss a sweater on and get over it. But either it’s getting colder or I’m getting soft, because I’m freezing! And I finally need to get my act together and spend some of my Christmas dough on a little something new to occupy my coat rack. Been pulling together some of my faves, and I thought I’d share!

10 Fab Winter Coats

Pastel Pink Collarless Coat
Faux Fur Leopard Coat
Blanket Wrap Coat
Red Boiled Wool Walker Coat
Pink Boucle Coat with Inset Bib
Persimmon Collarless Coat
Notch Collar Coat
Yellow Two-Way Coat
Check Plaid Toggle Coat
A-Line Babydoll Coat

I’m thinking maybe something with a little color, yeah? That yellow one actually unzips at the bottom and becomes a moto jacket, which is pretty sweet! But that pale pink on the top left may be my favorite of them all. Which would you pick? And what kind of coat do you rock in the winter? xoxo
