Packing for an Overnight Summer Trip

Babes, I’ve been grounded for too long! We’ve had lots of hometown and day trip adventures since Hanko was born, but I’m fully ready for all of the longer trips we have planned for the summer. We’ve got everything from overnighters to our big anniversary trip (and lots in between!), so I’m already thinking about packing. First up, a couple of overnight trips! Overnights can be tricky, right? Seems like it should be easier than packing for a long vacay, but you really have to pare down and just take the essentials. Here are mine.

On a quick overnighter, my go-to is a romper, especially in the summer. It takes up no room in your bag, it’s super comfy, and you can fudge it for a day or night ensemble. (And for me, they’re easy nursing access. Bonus!) Dress it up with a couple of accessories like a snazzy watch or some hoopie hoop earrings and BAM you’re done.

On your feet? Sandals, duh! And may I recommend my new favorite pair? These bad boys from Payless are on repeat in my wardrobe right now. They’ll be coming with me on all of our travels for sure. Perfect for a car or plane ride because they’re so comfy, great for walking around all day, and sleek enough to take them out on the town at night. (Not to mention they’re on sale. Sale!) I may or may not be wearing them as I type this. Okay, I definitely am.

A few other necessities: some cooler than cool sunnies (I’m digging a bit of an oversized situation these days), and a small clutch for going out. Put it all in a simple tote and you’re good to go! And for all of you cactus lovers, there’s a DIY tutorial coming up soon to make that little cactus tote. I’ve got ya covered.

What are your summer travel essentials? And where will you be heading this summer?! Share your travel plans so we can all daydream that we’re already on vacay. xoxo

  1. Packing for overnights is always awkward because you don’t want to pack to much and look like a pack mule or to little and be stuck without your stuff. I love all of these picks!
