I wish from the bottom of my heart that everybody I know could have been at our MiniMakers event with The Land of Nod! It was maybe the most fun workshop I’ve ever hosted — when the first kid walks into the room and bolts for the giant mushroom tent you know it’s gonna be a good time.

Speaking of the mushroom tent, it was so fun to have some Nod goodies around that the kids could all play with. The big hits of the day were the mushroom and the lumberjack logs! Like Lincoln Logs but more… rustic. Families were lounging around, reading books, playing hopscotch and tic tac toe, and just having a good old time. I suppose it didn’t hurt either that we had Minnie from Sweet Puff Candy there spinning fresh cotton candy (candy apple and salted caramel flavor!!!). Pretty sure we sent the kids on their way on a mighty fine sugar high. (Sorry, mom and dad.) But I swear we tried to feed everyone a square meal, too, with some adorable eats from Forty Winks.

Social Print Studio was rad enough to let us use their space to hold the event and it was perfect. Their headquarters is an amazing loft filled with all kinds of plants and light and fun things around every corner. (We decked it out with fun balloons from Studio Pep!) After everybody arrived, got sufficiently sugared up, and ran around the space for a while, we sat down to get crafty. We were making fun little felt animal masks (the deer and fox were inspired by these from Illistyle) and everybody was totally into it, parents included! It was also so fun to see how the kids customized their own masks. We pre-cut the shapes but they could put them together however they liked; my personal fave was the kiddo who used the fox eyebrows to make a droopy fox mustache. Brilliance at work, I tell ya. And by the way, can you even deal with these photos? We were lucky enough to have Kira of Kira Lauren Photography with us for the day and she snapped some beauts.

After more crafting and more playing, we had a few fun giveaways, courtesy of Nod. I was so pumped to be able to give away some fun pillows, the lumberjack logs, and a $100 credit to the shop! One mom told me that after her little one won this pillow she said, “I’ve never won anything before!” The stinking cutest. But maybe the most fun part of the day was giving parents and kids the swaggiest swag bags at the end of the day. We were pumped to have so many great makers and brands include their pieces. You’re gonna want to pay close attention here because we’re giving away a pair of swag bags (one adult and one child) so one of you lucky ducks can feel like you were right there with us!
