Meet/Make/Do

Meet/Make/Do

I’m so excited that it’s here — the day that I get to share all the beautiful details that came together for Meet/Make/Do! When Kelly, Brittni, and I were conceiving and planning the event, I really had no idea what it would be like in real life. But I have to say, it surpassed what I hoped for and turned out to be more inspiring than I could have envisioned. And I’m grateful to say that it’s in large part due to our wonderful guests, the vendors that donated goods, and our beautiful sponsor Bing, who brought the event to life.

We chose a vacation home in Palm Springs to host the event — it was like a dream. We stocked it with our favorite items and supplies, and when it came time to work, we let our guests use anything and everything they liked in creating a project. We had Microsoft Surface tablets to help with research, and we were able to use Bing’s tools to help us put ideas together. (My very favorite one is the “Pin from Search” tool! Add an image to your Pinterest boards right from your search and it will always link to the right spot. Brilliant.) Watching our friends work their creative magic was so, so cool. People were throwing ideas around left and right, and at the end of the day, everybody had created something. We were lucky to have Mary of Mary Costa Photography there capturing everything; her images are just gorgeous.

Meet/Make/Do

Our supply buffet featured goods from Shop Sweet Lulu, Flower Muse, West Elm, The Fabric Store LA , Landis Carey, Tweedle Dee Designs, and World Reclaimed.

As is the case with most events, we hit an unforeseen snag — the house we rented was burglarized while we were out. Thankfully, everyone was safe but there were things taken. It was unreal, and all I could think about was getting our guests to a place where they felt safe. Have you ever been in a situation like that? I was shaking on the inside but trying to stay calm and positive for our guests. It was pretty scary for a second. So we whisked them off to The Saguaro hotel, where life is a rainbow. I was so grateful that we were able to relocate easily.

The next day was spent exploring, talking shop, sharing ideas, trading tips, and ended with probably the best accidental pajama party ever. I am so grateful for each and every one of our guests, and the inspiration they provided just by being there! It truly feels like we’re all old friends now — we have this experience to share, remember, and build on. So many thanks to the girls who were there: Ashley, Lexy, Chelsey, Melanie, Erin, Danni, Brittany, and Jenn.

We were happy to be able to work with a number of totally killer vendors for supplies and styling materials. Shop Sweet Lulu provided a bounty of party and craft goodies, which was so fun. Our house was overflowing with gorgeous blooms from Flower Muse. West Elm contributed some of their most beautiful tabletop goods for styling. The Fabric Store LA supplied some incredible fabrics for people to use. And Minted sent along lots of paper goodies for a dinner at The Ace Hotel (more on that soon!).

Meet/Make/DoHow gorgeous is this little dinner setup by Jenn? I love how she styled the West Elm pieces (plates, flatware, glasses). So many more beautiful projects like this one to come — our guests were so creative.

Michelle Dwight Designs made us these adorable custom heart totes! They were a big hit.

In addition, we showcased goods from a whole slew of makers and artists in the house. It was important to us to find pieces that were beautiful, well-made, and well-curated. I’m so grateful to all of the vendors that helped us:

Almond milk from Almond Milk LA, edible cookie dough from Edoughble, hand-crafted pottery from Landis Carey, delicious jams from M. Greenwood Jams, custom illustrated menus and name cards from Striped Cat Studio, photobooth props from Tweedle Dee Designs, wooden bowls, candle cups, and cutting board from Wind and Willow Home, and wooden trays from World Reclaimed.
