Ideas for a Baby Birthday Party

I have to get my act together, becauseĀ little dude Henry is about to be a year old! We’ve been hemming and hawing about what to do for his birthday, and it’s hilarious because Ryan and I have toooootally different concepts of what a first birthday party should be. If Ryan had his way, we’d be hosting our entire neighborhood for an epic shindig, and if I made the call, it would just be immediate family and lots of cake. I have a feeling we’ll end up somewhere in the middle. But if you’ve got a baby birthday coming up, we put together a few super fun and fast party ideas with goodies from our pals over at Munchkin!

Kid-Friendly SignageĀ Foam bath letters are the perfect thing to make a quick garland! Spell out the birthday kiddo’s name, use them to label food on a buffet table, or just spell out fun party sayings. Tape a piece of twine to the back to hang them up, and then remove them to use in the tub later. (This could be a fun gift to give if you’reĀ attendingĀ a party, too!)

Mini Spoons at a Sprinkles BarĀ How fun would an ice cream-themed birthday party be?! Set up a smorgasbord of sprinkles and toppings — these little spoons are the perfect size for little hands to help themselves. After the party, add the spoons to your baby-feeding arsenal. WeĀ love these spoons; they change color if your food is too hot as an extra safety precaution when you’re feeding little ones.

Smart SnackingĀ These little spill-proof snack containers are perfect because little hands can reach in to get what’s inside but if they topple over, there’s no mess. Fill them up ahead of time and have them waiting on a snacks table so parents or kids can just grab and go if somebody gets the munchies!

The Perfect FavorsĀ Send kids on their way with something both they and their parents will love. Bath crayons? Brilliant. Cute little crayons that will write on the shower or bathtub walls and wash right off. And they’re push-ups, so there’s no sharpening involved.

Since we’re in the planning stages over here, I’d love to know: Have you ever thrown a baby birthday party? How big or small was it? What did you love and what would you do differently? If you have any more great ideas or tips, leave a comment and share with the class! xoxo

  1. LOVE snack traps. My daughter double fists snack traps. one with goldfish, the other cheerios. Love the bath crayons. I’m planning her bday party and those would be so cute to add to the favor bags!

  2. First birthdays are a little tricky aren’t they?! I mean, all they really want is a big kiss and maybe a bite of chocolate and they are happy. We are throwing our twins girls their first birthday party this Saturday and invited our immediate family and friends. We normally wouldn’t make it so big but those people supported us so fiercely as we figured out 3 kids under 2, we wanted to thank them all. So yeah there will be kid snacks and all that but also beer šŸ™‚ Because it’s mostly a party for parents.
