It’s back! The photobooth series has been quiet for a while, but we’re alive and kicking now with a little Valentine’s Day photo backdrop that you can use for parties, photographing Valentines, or just decoration. It’s quick and easy, and you can use a variety of materials that you might already have laying around! And since I sign off everything from blog posts to emails with a little “xoxo” I thought it would be pretty appropriate to make them life-sized on a wall. Let’s party.
- paper for x’s and o’s (I used wrapping paper and crepe paper rolls, but you can use just about anything!)
- double sided tape or glue dots
- blank wall
Make Time: 1 Hour
Start by cutting out your x’s and o’s. I made my letters 6″ x 6″. Use something round to trace the o’s if you like, and a ruler to measure out your x’s. I made 22 o’s and 23 x’s, which resulted in a backdrop that’s about 5 feet wide and four feet tall.
Once the letters are cut out, begin adhering them to the wall. We found that double sided tape worked better on the wrapping paper, while glue dots worked well with the crepe paper. You might need to experiment to find the best stick. Start with the top row, making it high enough to be above the tallest person’s head that you’ll be photographing. Ensure that your first row is level, and center the following rows according to the top.
Continue until all of the letters are on the wall and set up your camera so that the letters carry on out of frame just a bit, to make it look like they go on forever. Get ready for lots of Valentine hugs and kisses, and snap away! xoxo
P.S. It’s a terrible photo, but I had to include the one of Mr. Lovely wiping off lipstick after we smooched. Bahahaha.
