Okay gang, whatcha getting for your mama this Mother’s Day?! I confess, sometimes as a mom I’m a total sucker for a really good card instead of a gift. And in that spirit, we have a DIY Mother’s Day card idea for you that’ll win every time. It’s a simple paper cutting project that’s made even simpler if you have a cutting machine, and mom is guaranteed to ooh and aah over the fact that you made it with your own ever lovin’ hands. We got all of our materials at Michaels, so it was a one-stop shop.
- cardstock in a few colors
- scissors or a paper cutter (or even better, a cutting machine like a Cricut!)
- glue stick
Make Time: 5 Minutes (with a cutting machine) or 30 Minutes (using scissors)
Step 1: Download our printable/cuttable file right here. If you’re using scissors, size the file to your card/envelope size, select the saying you’d like on your card, and print onto your cardstock. Then cut out the letters.
Step 2: If you’re using a cutting machine, upload the file into your software, select the saying you’d like on your card, and cut it out of your cardstock.
Step 3: Fold your card in half.
Step 4: Cut a piece of contrasting cardstock (we used white) to the size of half of your card. Apply glue stick to the back of the side of the card with the letters cut out. Stick the white cardstock to the back so that you can see it through the letters from the front.
Step 5: Write a sweet note in your card and pop it in an envelope! We found these pretty watercolor envelopes in the scrapbooking aisle at Michaels.
While I was making these, I decided I liked ’em so much I told Ryan he could just use one for me instead of buying a card. How nice am I?! You’re welcome, husband.
