Come on. You didn’t think I’d pass up the opportunity to try a little DIY mommy and me costume, did ya?! Since Henry is my little sidekick I thought we’d get our imaginary wings out and dress as Birds of a Feather!

How to Adjust a Mommy and Me Costume

The photos here are just of me and Henry, but you could easily adjust this mommy and me costume idea to include the whole family! Be sure to keep things simple and safe for anything you’re adding to the baby’s costume. Then, older family members could have more involved costume pieces like wings, beaks, and more.

You could even do this one with your BFF or significant other (if, that is, he’s willing to put a feather in his cap for the evening). It’s super simple and super affordable, and you can probably just customize some things that are already in your closet!

Make a Mommy and Me Birds of a Feather Halloween Costume

Materials

Make Time: 30 Minutes

  1. Start by glueing some feathers down in a crisscross pattern on your headband. Allow them to dry thoroughly.
  2. Make three separate arrangements of feathers; two for mom and one for baby. Get various colors and glue the feathers on top of one another. Allow to dry.
  3. Glue an arc of feathers onto the front of the baby onesie. Be sure to trim off any sharp ends so the little one doesn’t get scratched.
  4. Glue one feather stack on each shoulder of mom’s cardigan. Put the third feather stack into a fold in baby’s beanie.

Yaaaaay! I have to admit, Hank was more interested in eating my feathers than in posing for the camera but it was pretty adorable nonetheless. I love this little costume, especially for a busy mom who’s looking for something cute, simple, and quick for Halloween!
