DIY Mouseketeer Halloween Costume

It’s October! And I’m so excited! It’s fall and Halloween is coming and the weather is cooling off and all of these things make me just really happy. And to top it all off, I’ve been waiting and waiting to share this new series with you guys — Costumes from your Closet! My theory is this: Halloween costumes can be easy, fast and totally free and still be really awesome. So we’ve put together a series of costume how-tos with stuff that we only already had in our house, and that hopefully you have too! Pieces can be substituted or traded for things that you might have or make, but for the most part, these are free and fun costumes that you can put together in no time at all. Up first — a Mouseketeer!

How ’bout that male model, huh? I found him on the street and he looked like he’d make a good Mouseketeer. But keep in mind that the Mouseketeer costume is perfect for men, women, and kiddos too — or a whole family! You just need a few key pieces for this little getup. First, you gotta have some ears. Maybe you have your very own Disneyland pair and maybe not. If you don’t, just cut out some black circles in paper or felt and glue them to a headband. Boom! Insta-ears.

Next up, I think a Mouseketeer looks great in red and white. If you have a baseball tee, go for it! Plain red or white tees would work just as well. Pair it with some jeans or cutoffs and some sneakers and you’re all set. Bonus points for carrying a camera and pretending you’re searching for Mickey all night. And DOUBLE bonus points for nerdy glasses and suspenders, just because I think they’re adorable.

That’s it! Be sure to check back every week in October for a new Costume from your Closet! xoxo
