A few years ago, if you had said “white skinny jeans” to me, I would have turned around and ran. I mean, tell me the thought of a tight white piece of clothing isn’t terrifying! I’ll admit it — I was skeptical. But I hitched up my britches, went into Old Navy and tried on every fit of white denim jeans they have (and there are a lot).

Somehow, magically, these jeans rock. If you’re a little on the curvy side like yours truly, I seriously can’t recommend these enough. They’re the Flirt skinnies. I frolicked all over the beach in these things. They were comfy, they didn’t gape in the back, and even though we were at the beach they didn’t make me terribly hot. Also, perfect with this skinny belt.

Oh, and I can’t get enough of that bag! Perfect for the beach but I use it as a purse, too. And I have to share these photos of Mr. Lovely because he’s so freakin’ cute in that sailboat shirt.

Okay Old Navy, you win. White skinny jeans it is. xoxo

A Beautiful Cause

chevron1

Have you come across iSanctuary yet? It’s short for International Sanctuary — it’s a jewelry company that helps survivors of human trafficking. That’s really a nutshell version of what they do. The company employs people who have made it out of the human trafficking system with the goal of helping them reintegrate and find community. Everything, from making the jewelry, to packaging, shipping, inventory, and beyond — it’s all done by survivors.

It’s hard to talk about the actual accessories while there’s so much to share about the cause behind them, but suffice to to say that they make gorgeous pieces and you should definitely take some time to explore them all. The new Spring and Summer line is full of pieces that I’m loving! They recently sent me this chevron necklace, and I wear it with everything.

Also, if you have a minute, read through their about page, too. It’s incredible what they’re accomplishing — employing women in India and the U.S., creating education and advocacy programs, and spreading the word about how to help. And by the way, if you’re interested in getting involved, there’s info here! Check it out. xoxo

DIY Gold-Toe Flats

DIY Gold-Toe Flats
DIY Gold-Toe Flats

While I was in Old Navy recently, looking at some shirts, I came across these rockin’ neon pointy-toed flats. I fell in love with the shape and the color (and the price!), and thought right away that they’d be perfect for a little golden project that I’ve been thinking of for a while now. So I snatched ‘em up.

If you want golden toes, too, here’s what you’ll need:

DIY Gold-Toe Flats

Start by taping off the area that you’d like to gild (ScotchBlue tape has become my favorite for gold leaf projects — it makes nice, clean borders). Make sure you tape the area where the shoe meets the sole also.

DIY Gold-Toe Flats

Paint a liberal amount of ModPodge on the taped-off area.

DIY Gold-Toe Flats

Gently lay gold leaf over the ModPodge and carefully pat it down using a clean, dry paintbrush.

DIY Gold-Toe Flats

Let dry completely, and carefully peel off the tape. Use the dry paintbrush to brush away any excess gold leaf.

You’re ready to step out! I love how these look. It’s probably best to be a little careful with these guys (don’t wear them in the rain or to a monster truck rally or anything crazy like that). But other than that, have a ball making them and wearing them. xoxo

Style // Old Navy Tees

TEE5

TEE6

You know Mr. Lovely and I love a road trip, so we decided to let that inspire this month’s Old Navy Style post! Right now, ON has a ton of comfy, super soft tees that are perfect for a long day in the car but still look polished and put-together. I chose this easy-breezy three quarter sleeve tee with some sweet mini stripes, and we hit the road.

TEE

After we did this little photo shoot, we actually did take a road trip, from my hometown down to LA — and I was comfy in that tee the whole way! I rocked my favorite sunnies on the way down as well. Although I have to admit, I did change out of the boots (which are from American Eagle).

And I have to give big props to my Dad for letting us take his old Chevy wagon out for a spin! He’s a major car guy and loves to restore the oldies. This one’s a blast to drive. Be sure to check out the rest of Old Navy’s tee collection — I may or may not have picked up a few extras, just in case. xoxo

Stray Heart

Stray Heart

Have you guys heard of Stray Heart? It’s a new clothing line launching this fall and I’m kind of super stoked about it. The line is chock full of awesome basics, but each piece has sort of a cool twist. They recently sent me their signature hoodie, which is about as comfy and perfect for spring as you can get.

Stray Heart

I love their philosophy, too: Inspired by a sense of adventure, we aim to infuse each piece with the effortless, efficient, and romantic spirit that defines the Stray Heart brand.  We think just because you stray, it doesn’t mean you’re lost. I mean, how cool is that?! It’s like they read my mind and made clothes out of what they found in there.

I seriously can’t wait to take this little hoodie to the beach soon — how cute would it be as a cover up? Until then, I’m keeping it cozy, layered over a tee with some rolled-up jeans and my moccs. How would you wear it? xoxo

Old Navy Upgrade // Spring Dresses

Old Navy Spring Dresses

Old Navy Spring DressesI’m so stoked, because the day is finally here when I can tell you about Lovely Indeed’s new partnership with Old Navy! They’ve totally upgraded their game, and for the next few months I’ll be featuring a monthly style post with some of my favorite Old Navy pieces. I’ve been loving all of their bright colors and looks recently, so I can’t even tell you how over the moon I am to spread the good word about what they’re doing.

This month is all about dresses, y’all. I went looking for a Spring dress or two and had a heck of a time narrowing it down (I know, sounds like a serious problem). But I finally chose this belted chambray shirtdress, which fits in perfectly with the rest of my wardrobe. Mr. Lovely and I took the dress out for a spin on a recent trip to the Santa Monica Pier.

Aren’t the shoes so adorable? I feel like I’ll be toodling around in these canvas boat shoes all summer. The coral belt was also perfect to toss on over the dress.

And in case you’re wondering, the jacket is from Forever 21, and the bag is from J.Crew. And the coral necklace is from my very first trip to Hawaii!

So big thanks to Old Navy, and make sure you keep an eye out in the coming months to see what else is new! Also, watch my Instagram feed for more bits and pieces of my ON faves. xoxo

A Spring Palette

Every year about this time, I start itching for warmer weather, fewer sweaters, and meals on the patio. Lucky for me, this year I live in LA, where those things are almost happening! In NYC we’d have to wait until at least May to actually put away the rainboots and jackets.

So to get my Springtime on, I’ve been window shopping online and all I want to wear are these delicious, vibrant pastels that are everywhere! Except instead of calling them pastel, everyone is calling them sorbets. And I’m okay with that, because sorbet is delicious. So as soon as it’s warm enough, you can find me in some of these beauties. Do you have a fave? xoxo
