The weather in Los Angeles lately has been just warm enough to have me dreaming of summer. I’m not pulling out all of my sundresses just yet, but you can bet I’ve been trolling my favorite online shops and daydreaming about dressing for warmer days.

One of the things I love most, most, most about summer is eating outside. Mr. Lovely and I have a standing lunch date every Friday, and pretty soon we’ll be able to eat al fresco in our shorts and sandals. I’m so anxious for it I found myself putting together some summery looks that will be just perfect for that first hot day.

Summer Outfit

Sunnies. Earrings. Top. Pink bracelet. White bracelet. Clutch. Shorts. Sandals. Nail polish.

Summer always brings out my inner hippie, so I’m all about the cutoff shorts. These are maybe a little more distressed than I’d usually wear but wouldn’t they be so comfy after a day at the beach? I also love to stack on the friendship bracelets during the summer — it’s a serious arm party. I love the thin knotted cord combined with touches of gold.

So what’s the weather where you are?! Is it still full-out winter, or do you see spring and summer starting to head your way? Are you as antsy to pull out your sandals as I am? xoxo

Sidebar & Sponsor Update!

Okay, guys. I’m taking a little bit of a leap here and trying something that I’ve always been curious about but a little scared to do. Have you heard of…

Passionfruit Ads

Okay, guys. I’m taking a little bit of a leap here and trying something that I’ve always been curious about but a little scared to do. Have you heard of Passionfruit Ads? It’s like an online marketplace that helps organize and sell sidebar ads on blogs. And as of right now, Lovely Indeed has its very own ad shop there!

So what does it all mean? Basically, you can purchase an ad on Lovely Indeed’s sidebar right from the shop. It eliminates a lot of back and forth, and makes things like uploading ad art and payment super easy and safe. I’ve been toying with the idea because I love being able to represent other bloggers and businesses on the sidebar, but the upkeep with changing out ads monthly becomes quite a bit of work. So we’re trying this out. And if you’re thinking of sponsoring, I’d love to know if you like the idea! (By the way, did you also notice I recently revamped the sidebar? I wanted to give the ads a little more space to shine.)

The other cool thing is that you don’t have to wait until the 1st of the month to jump on the sidebar. You can purchase an ad any time (like at 1 am while you’re on your couch in your pajamas) and it will run for one month from the day you purchase. There are handy reminders when your ad is about to expire, so you can choose to stay on or finish up the month.

And one other fancy little thing — I’ve finally added Blog Business and Organization Consulting to Lovely Indeed’s services! I get so many questions about how I stay organized, how I run my editorial calendar, and the path that I took to turn blogging into my job. So now, I can distill that information to you one on one and make it apply to you and your blog or business. You can find that service in the ad shop as well!

So if you’re thinking of jumping on board, check it out! You can find the Lovely Indeed ad shop here, or right on the blog in the Collaborate page. I sincerely hope that if you choose to advertise with Lovely Indeed, this will make the process awesome for you! xoxo

I’m wiggling my toes because things are happening. Big, fun things that are kicking off next year. And it’s gonna be good. January will mark the start of a few new things around here, including a different sidebar and new advertising opportunities! I’m pumped to get going with it, especially because I’ll be heading to Alt Summit in January (did you hear that I’m hosting a party?!) and it’ll mean lots of extra exposure next month for the folks who are on Lovely’s sidebar.

So if you’re curious to know more or if you’d like to jump on the sidebar for January, shoot me an email at hello{at}lovelyindeed{dot}com and we can chat. Let’s make things happen. xoxo

Loving our mix of sidebar sponsors this month! We’ve got some brand new ones, some continuing, and some returning from a while back. All of them are coming up with some creative, beautiful stuff for the fall, so be sure to click through and see my faves. xoxo

sponsorsLotts & Lots is a brand new sponsor this month and I’m so happy about it! It’s should be your new go-to blog for jewelry DIY — this knotted cord necklace is completely rad.

Calypte Collection has become a regular around these parts! I hope you’re loving her chunky, wearable pieces as much as I am (especially this one).

Oh, This Heart of Mine. This brilliant girl does all the DIYs I wish I’d thought of. And anyone who knows how to use gold leaf is automatically my BFF.

Andrea Wysocki is back! Her handmade jewelry is gorgeous, delicate, and so sweet. I’m loving these hammered hoops. (You should also check out her new fall collection.)

Recognize this one? Make Your Day made it to the sidebar this month, just for funsies! Don’t forget to get your copy and use MYDAYISMADETODAY at checkout for a happy little discount.

Take a few moments this weekend to visit our gorgeous sponsors! Always thankful to collaborate with such a wealth of creativity. xoxo

sponsorsThis Heart of Mine is a regular these days on our sidebar, and lucky us! She’s always coming up with the most gorgeous, fresh DIYs, like this layered garland.

We’re happily welcoming Rachel from 52 Weeks Project to the sidebar this month! Her blog began as a year of dedicating some time to creativity each week, and has grown above and beyond that. Check out one of her latest projects — hand-stamped napkins.

Crumple + Toss never fails to make me laugh! Kristina’s voice is so authentic and real, and I love that. I also love the little glimpses she gives into her own life, like in this post. You can also buy her creations from her Etsy Shop!

Calypte Collection’s Etsy shop is perfect for anybody who might need to get a jump on some holiday shopping! I’m still really in love with this piece — I love the white stone against the gunmetal chain.

I don’t know how she does it, but Alyssa at Tech Love Design finds the coolest stuff on the internet! Without a doubt, I always see something that I’ve never seen before there. Loving this post — an homage to her teen punk years.

yes

One of my goals recently has been to say yes more. Not in the way where my schedule gets packed and I get stressed and all of a sudden I’m sorry I said yes to anything at all. But in the way where I’m pushed slightly outside of my comfort zone, forced to try new things, and growing because of it. So far, so good.

If you’re looking for ways to stretch yourself as well, let’s team up. Lovely Indeed is looking for sponsors who’d like to say yes to amazing things — cool collaborations, fun projects, and outside-the-box thinking. I have a few glorious ideas that I’d love to bring to life, and I just need some yes-folks to back me up. So if you’re looking to sponsor something cool, yes it out. Shoot me an email and let’s make things happen.

And as always, Lovely Indeed is accepting yes-folks on the sidebar, now taking sponsors for the month of October! Send a message to hello {at} lovelyindeed {dot} come and we can talk turkey. Have a beautiful weekend, all! xoxo

Let’s hear it for our August sponsors! These ladies are all so wonderful in very different ways — I’ve been having fun scrolling through their blogs and shops and picking my favorite things to feature here! Take some time to look through their sites. It’s really a wealth of creativity and beautiful things to look at. Thanks, darling sponsors! xoxo

I’m just waiting for This Heart of Mine to explode and become a household name, because it’s just constantly filled with innovative, fresh, and awesome projects. This one’s my latest fave.

Looking at Lynn + Lou is like taking a breath of fresh air! There’s so much fun to be had there — recipes, style posts, DIY projects, and killer downloads like this wallpaper.

The handmade jewelry pieces at Calypte Collection is all so fab! I’m loving the chunky pieces, like this bracelet. I wanna stack ’em up my arm!

The Folding Chair is always one of my favorite stops for some colorful inspiration! This little downloadable card is so sweet, don’t you think?

Style // Tees & Shorts Two Ways

I have been jumping for joy lately that some of my favorite stores are carrying shorts in lengths that are comfortable for us folks who are not in the daisy duke fan club. I was pumped to see that Old Navy has so many awesome shorts in different lengths. So if you like living on the edge, go for the 3-inch styles. I’ll be rocking my 5-inchers and feeling great about myself. (They have even longer ones, too!)

On a recent trip to Old Navy I thought it would be fun to pick out some tee and shorts combos and see how differently I could style them. Because they had such a wide range of shorts, I chose a couple of vastly different ones and went to town.

The first combo is very laid-back-Cali. I love these Sweetheart cutoff shorts — so comfy. I’ve been running around in them lots so far. And I’m a sucker for anything with a map on it, so that California tee was a no-brainer. I paired it with my favorite TOMS and a little Marc Jacobs crossbody bag, and I was ready for an adventure. I could run around in this all day.

When I saw these printed shorts, I snapped them up immediately. The pattern is so cool! And I grabbed one of their super-soft vintage tees to go with it. When I got home I tested it out with an old tuxedo jacket from my closet and BAM — I’m calling it a summer tuxedo. I’ve always loved the way that shorts look with heels, too. Carry a little clutch with it (this one is the Kate Spade wicker clutch), and you can take this look straight to the theatre. The fancy theatre, y’all.

So whaddaya think? Do you have a favorite look? Or are you a shorts person at all? For a long time I avoided them in favor of dresses, but these are really making their way into my wardrobe as staples. Hope you try some out! xoxo
