Hooray! We’re celebrating 24 Merry Days again this year! In case you forgot, 24 Merry Days is the ultimate blogger giveaway, with a different prize from a different blog during each day of December. I love this little celebration, and I think it’s the perfect way to wrap up the year and thank you all for being part of what we bloggers do.

So what’s the deal? Every day during December (starting tomorrow!), check around for which blog is having a giveaway that day. I’ll be sharing the info here at the end of each post with a link to the day’s giveaway, so you can find them easily. Then head over to that blog to see the prize and enter to win! This year, Lovely Indeed will be giving away the final prize, so you have to wait a few weeks to see what it is but I promise it’s a doozy. Here are a few of the other things you can win this month!

24

Yes dudes, there are bikes, bags, shoes, accessories, gift cards galore, and even a mini Smeg fridge up for grabs. It’s a pretty incredible list of prizes, and we’re all so excited to give them to ya. So check back every day starting tomorrow to see where that day’s giveaway is. I’ll be personally updating you on Lovely Indeed’s Twitter feed every morning with info about where you can enter that day — follow along! You can also always check out the giveaway calendar right here or on the Facebook page. Let’s be merry. xoxo

Thanksgiving

Just stopping by briefly this morning, to wish you a beautiful holiday tomorrow. I hope it finds you near people you love, with plenty to be thankful for. This season I find myself grateful for a pile of blessings so tall I can’t see the top — not the least of which is you, lovely reader, for coming here to share little bits of life with me every day. Happy Thanksgiving. xoxo

Any Day Now

anyday

Tick tock, y’all. The due date is Friday and we are just going about our lives, pretending that we’re not wondering every day when we wake up whether that day will be the day. Baby day. So for your entertainment, a few things that start happening when you’re four days from your due date.

Anytime you call someone you don’t speak to on a daily basis, they answer the phone with “Is there a baby?!”

You start to clean any and everything you can just so you don’t have to do it later. But you want to punch anyone in the face if they tell you smugly that you’re nesting.

If your baby is due the day after Thanksgiving, you set up your Christmas decorations in the middle of November to ensure that they’ll actually make it out of the box.

You stop caring that you’ve been wearing and washing the same two outfits over and over because they’re the only things that you want to wriggle your giant stomach into.

And that’s just the stuff that’s fit to print! Pregnancy is weird, guys. But pretty soon that whole adventure will be long gone (and hopefully some of the details forgotten?) and we’ll be on an entirely new roller coaster. In the meantime, hows about we set up a little baby day pool and make things interesting? Who wants $20 on Friday the 29th? xoxo

I love giving gifts! And I especially love giving really thoughtful, cool gifts that the recipient will get jazzed about. There’s an art to it, ya know? I suppose it’s really about trying to get inside the other person’s head and thinking about what they would love, instead of what you would love for them to have. Or instead of the things you love. That’s kind of tricky!

But just in case you are looking for some inspiration this holiday season, I’m putting together a series of three gift guides, kicking off today! And I’m truly excited because each item we’re featuring is from the shop of a maker or creative, and each shop is offering a special discount to Lovely Indeed readers! How generous is that? We put together a very carefully curated group of shops, and I’m so honored to have them all offer you lovelies a little extra something to help you save a bit on your holiday shopping. So take a look and get inspired! First up, gifts for the dudes in your life.

Remember! These gift guides just happen to feature my picks from each shop. But each shop’s discount applies to the entire shop, so don’t hesitate to look around and use the discount on another piece that you might love.

Little Guy’s Nursery

Wanna know something crazy? In the mornings, sometimes I wake up and the first thing I do is go sit in this room and just look around. Isn’t that bonkers?…

Wanna know something crazy? In the mornings, sometimes I wake up and the first thing I do is go sit in this room and just look around. Isn’t that bonkers? In probably just a few days I’ll be chained to the rocking chair for hours on end and all I want to do right now is go sit in there and stare. I’m just so happy that the little dude’s nursery is all finished, and that I actually like it. For a long time I was super stressed about it, as though if something wasn’t quite right he’d just have a tantrum and hate it. Which I know is crazy. But it’s done and it’s so happy in there and I just love it.

When we started dreaming about the nursery, we decided on sort of an eclectic adventure vibe, with bright and happy accents. And I knew way down deep in my bones that the VW van photo that Mary took had to be the inspiration. So that’s where we started. I was also so over the moon to have Land of Nod partner up with us to provide a few key pieces that make the room come together.

nursery9

We started with a super simple crib, and painted the wall behind it a pale, minty blue (if there is such a thing?). I had a heck of a time deciding what to put over the crib because of my complete terror at having something fall down into it. So we eventually decided on a little DIY pompom garland and a sweet cloud light that we found thrifting. Mr. Lovely literally spent hours wiring and hanging that thing because I kept changing my mind about where it would go and how it would hang and where the switch would be. He liked me lots after that. The pineapple print and car print from went up next to the crib to jazz it up a little — perfect for a little dude. We also got the crib all dressed up in a crib sheet and skirt from Nod. Who could pass up a chambray crib skirt?!

nursery16

Oh, and somebody please give me a round of applause — I knitted that throw pillow cover. I win.

You probably remember the gallery wall we put together, which is still one of my favorite spots in the room. A while back, Meg from White Nest sent us the Greatest Adventure print and I just about cry every time I see it. And the ampersand embroidery was a sweet gift from Laura. Almost everything in the room has a story behind it and I just love that.

nursery11

nursery10

After a million mamas raved about it, we finally splurged on the Graham Glider from west elm for a rocking chair, and woahhhh I’m glad we did. It’s the most comfortable chair in our house. We added the leather pouf from Nod for a little ottman and it works like a charm. And DUDES the dresser we ended up choosing for the little guy is an IKEA hack! Anybody want a tutorial? I can definitely share our secrets. And Nod’s Eden table lamp is just so perfect on the top of it.

nursery5

nursery6We did a little DIY treatment on the closet doors using removable stripes, which I am mildly obsessed with. At first I thought it was too loud but I got over that real quick. And the beauty is that if we ever want to switch it up those stripes come right off.

nursery7

A couple of Nod’s soft knit baskets are holding all of the little buddy’s blankies and toys for now. I love those bright pops of yellow. And we did another little IKEA hack to make some shelves for books and a few special things.

Thanks for coming on our little nursery tour! It is beyond weird to me that this room is going to be home to a little boy real, real soon. Big thanks to Land of Nod for helping us make a cozy spot for him. Okay little one, we’re ready for you! xoxo

babystuff12

You guys, the little dude is not even born yet and we’re teaching him to do tricks. The other day I realized that if I scratch my tummy, he wiggles his arms and legs. I was so fascinated with this weird phenomenon I spent about 10 minutes experimenting with it, and he only missed it like twice. He’s brilliant already.

But seriously, I got so excited because it was the first teeny preview we’ve had of actually interacting with him. And it made me remember that pretty soon he’ll actually be here, instead of just an idea or something we’re planning for. He’ll be an actual presence, part of our family, and with every day that goes by he’ll know more and we’ll know more about him. That’s pretty exciting.

In semi-related news, we have about a week (okay, 9 days) left until the due date. I feel like I’m probably the usual amount of uncomfortable; notable annoyances include numb hands from carpal tunnel, swollen feet, a nightly stuffy nose, and this brilliant new inner-thigh pain which apparently can be attributed to my pelvic bones spreading out? Um ew. But also proud to say that I’m still going to the gym. I mean, I go and just sort of meander on an elliptical trainer for 40 minutes, but I’m at the gym okay?! Let me have that one. I’m both completely ready for the little guy to show up and perfectly happy to have him take his sweet time — which is probably the best I could hope for. The only real thing I’m crossing fingers for is that he doesn’t interrupt the pumpkin pie course at Thanksgiving. Kidding. Sort of. xoxo

WEEK 39.

EATING whatever is close by.

DRINKING I’ll give you one wild guess.

READING weird facts about symptoms of late pregnancy and being glad I only have a few of them.

WANTING to be able to wear my regular sweaters. I know it’ll take a while, but geez do I miss my wardrobe.

SLEEPING …not really.

WEARING all the socks all the time because my extremities are fuh-reezing.

FEELING pumped. Ready. Not ready. Excited. Exhausted. Like I just want to hibernate with my husband and baby for the entire month of December without interruption.

LOVING a little bit of a slow-down. We’ve been working so hard to get the new house in order and to set up blog and work stuff so that it runs smoothly while we take some leave. It’s been weeks and weeks of nonstop work and it’s starting to wrap up and that feels wonderful.

Printable Thanksgiving Thankfulness Card

Printable Thanksgiving Thankfulness Card

Every year around Thanksgiving, I make a new version of these printable thankfulness card. I think it’s so lovely to remind ourselves to really think about the things that we are grateful for. So often when I think about it, it’s the basic things — food, shelter, people to love. Not everybody has those and I forget that.

So if you love the idea too, get the download and instructions for putting these simple cards together. Scatter them around your Thanksgiving table or leave one at each place setting. You don’t even have to make people read them out loud; sometimes it’s enough to just jot them down for ourselves as a private reminder. Maybe that’s even the best way.

If I were writing my card today, I’d include my husband, my family, warm drinks, crunchy leaves, creativity, and freedom to make life what you want it to be. What would you include? xoxo
