Well, good news — I survived the flight, and we’re in California! (I loved hearing your comments on that post, by the way!) In any case, California is green and beautiful right now and I’m just loving it. This weekend we’re heading to the LA area for a friend’s bridal shower and bachelorette party, so hopefully I’ll have some great photos to share with you next week. But until then, these are my faves. Did you have any favorites this week that were too good not to share? xoxo

All you really need for a beautiful Spring day outside is a blanket to sit on and someone awesome to share it with.  But if you also add some delicious bites and a camera, it becomes a pretty perfect day.  xoxo

P.S. Double bonus: this knocks something off of my 30 by 32 list!

Hi all!  Just wanted to update you with a couple of guest posts I’ve been busy with lately!  First up, be sure to check out my Easter egg DIY over on The Sweetest Occasion.  It’s quick and simple and there are about a million ways you could modify it.  Here’s a sneak peek:

Next up, Mr. Lovely and I had the honor of being interviewed for Green Couch Design’sCreatives Near You” series!  It’s a great column that features creative couples and the way that they work, play, and live their lives together.  Our interview covers lots of stuff about our lives in NYC, the way that we work together, and even fun tidbits like what a typical date night looks like for us.  Head over and read all about it!  xoxo

what are you scared of?

Today, Mr. Lovely and I are hopping on another plane and flying to California for a couple of weeks.  I’m so, so excited to see my family and spend some time on my favorite coast!  What I’m so, so not excited about is the plane that’s taking us there.

We travel a lot.  And I love it that way, because I like to be on the move and I love to see the world.  But lately, when we’re up in the air, any little bump or noise has been absolutely freaking me out!  On the last trip we took back to NYC, our first flight was so bumpy that I was researching renting a car and driving from Memphis to New York instead of taking our planned connecting flight.  Oh, the drama!

Now, I’m a rational person.  I know that turbulence has almost zero to do with in-flight safety, and that you’re hundreds of times more likely to have a car accident than a plane crash.  But my extra-wonderful imagination can’t help but taking off when the turbulence begins, and I become absolutely convinced that we’re going to fall out of the sky.

So there you go.  Today — possibly as you’re reading this — I’m smashing one of my two big fears.  (The other one, in case you’re wondering, is being eaten by a shark.  I blame this on my Mom, because her favorite movie is Jaws.)  So wish me luck and say a little prayer that we arrive in California safe and sound.  And in the meantime, entertain me — what’s your big fear?  xoxo

I recently saw this amazing tray from Up in the Air Somewhere on Etsy, and fell immediately in love.  So when Mr. Lovely came home with two wooden wine boxes and told me he wanted to do something fun with them, I knew just the thing.

Mr. Lovely did the manly stuff first, and took the trays to a buddy’s workshop to use his jigsaw.  He took them apart and cut the sides down, then finessed the ends into handles.  Like magic.  Somehow.  I dunno, you’d have to ask him.

Anyway!  Fast forward to Mr. Lovely handing the project off to moi.  I lined the bottom of each tray with plain white contact paper, and then ordered a roll of this awesome metallic gold tape to stripe it with.  I placed the stripes at random angles, only being sure to leave each strip of tape equidistant from the next.  Finally, I used an X-Acto knife to trim and clean the edges of the contact paper and tape.

Here you go!  Servin’ it up hot and fresh on my killer new trays.  xoxo

Here we go, Lovelies — hope you’re revved up and ready to rumble this week.  I’ve got a ton of good stuff in store for you, but to get you started off right, let’s brighten up!

Is there any better color for Spring?  Mint makes me think of new flower buds beginning to open, refreshing drinks, and…  toothpaste?  (I mean, you know you were thinking it too.)  In any case, it’s a pretty hard color to beat this time of year; I’m particularly loving that minty tulle skirt from D&G.  Not to mention the fact that I could never, ever turn down a scoop of mint chocolate chip.  xoxo

Necklace. Skirt. Watch. Pillow. Belt. Scoop. Clutch.

I was up super early yesterday morning, waiting in line for a spot to get my taxes done for free at the Actors’ Equity Association building.  If you don’t know what AEA is, it’s the stage actors’ union, and they offer benefits to actors who have their Equity card (like doing your taxes for free).  But the only thing is there are about a zillion actors, so if you want your taxes done, you literally have to get in line at 5 a.m. and find a way to pass the time.  But I digress!

I took my computer to get a little work done when I joined the other folks in line.  I sort of got sidetracked with this idea I had in my head, so instead of working, I made this.

Just a friendly little reminder for myself (and for you, if you want it!) to always, always, always go that extra mile.  It’s really what makes all the difference between awesome and everything else.  Feel free to download it, pin it, share it, whatever you like — just link back here if you do.

In other news, I loved hearing all of your thoughts on this post!  (It’s been so lovely to get a little more real here on the blog, so I think we’re gonna keep it up.)  While I was speaking mainly on my married-life experience thus far, one of you darlings commented about whether the happily single gals felt the same way.  Any thoughts on that one?  Go read the post for a full reminder of what we’re chatting about.

And hey — have an awesome weekend.  xoxo
