Yesterday was Memorial Day, and Sarasota’s downtown district hosted a hometown parade. At one point, an ROTC group stopped on the parade route and a bugle player at the head of their procession played taps. Immediately, the crowed hushed, and I looked around to see more than a few elderly gentlemen stand and salute until the song ended. It made me feel grateful.

On our last day off, some of the Cowgirls took a short drive down to the beach at Siesta Key. We were all in heaven, and spent some quality time in the waves and on the sand.
Afterwards, we stopped in Siesta Village for a little bite, and ended up at The Old Salty Dog. It’s the perfect post-beach joint; juicy burgers, crispy fish sandwiches, and seafood galore (not to mention margaritas and huckleberry lemonade, served in mason jars). The perfect end to a summer day. xoxo
